Board of Health Abortion Center Safety Vote
Monday, October 24

For two years, the Virginia Board of Health has been going through the process of dismantling the hard fought for abortion center health and safety standards at the request of Governor Terry McAuliffe.

On Monday, October 24, the Board is scheduled to take final action on several amendments to the standards that will essentially gut the standards and provide protection for the $1 billion abortion industry.

Please plan to stand with hundreds of other pro-life Virginians at that meeting!  Board of Health members need to know that Virginians reject Terry McAuliffe's politicalization of safety standards for abortion centers.

Where: Sheraton Inn Airport, 4700 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231

When: Monday, October 24, 2016, as early as possible (line is likely to form before 6 am)
Meeting Begins: 9:00 a.m.

Because the safety standards, including inspections, have led to the discovery of hundreds of health and safety deficiencies in Virginia's abortion centers, the industry is desperate to have them repealed.  No longer able to hide behind a veil of politically motivated secrecy, abortion centers were inspected by public health officials for the past four years.  Discoveries of dozens of violations led to a center in in the Spring.

Remarkably, amendments suggested by Attorney General Mark Herring include rejecting the Center for Disease Control's standards for preventing infectious disease!

Despite violating state law on numerous occasions in its effort to water down the standards, the Board of Health has called a special meeting to do just that.  You may remember that last week the Board had to delay the vote because official state documents produced by the Department of Health violated state law.  A legislative commission had to step in and warn the Board that a vote would be illegal.  But the delay did not correct all the violations of the law.  In fact, the Department and Board plan to act on additional amendments that have had no public comment, no proper review and are well outside the original intent of the amendments.

Such actions invite legal action against the Governor and Board.

But none of that matters to pro-abortion forces.  Hiding behind their frenzied misreading of a Supreme Court opinion issued in June, radical groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL are demanding that the standards be eviscerated.

Not only that, but the additional, unnecessary meeting will cost taxpayers!  This while the Commonwealth faces a significant budget deficit and the Commissioner of Health herself admitted that the Department doesn’t have the resources to implement an effective education campaign educating on alternatives to expensive EpiPens that could save lives it can somehow find the money to hold an unnecessary meeting simply to meet the demands of the $1 billion abortion industry.

Militant pro-abortion groups are inciting student activist groups to turn out in large numbers to the meeting.  In the past, these groups have interrupted Board meetings, shouted obscenities at pro-life speakers, and ignored basic human decorum.  We anticipate hundreds of college students led by these left-wing groups to protest at the Board of Health meeting.

We must show the Board of Health that we are pro-life and we are the majority.

Please plan to join us Monday, October 24th and forward this email to your pro-life friends.  Plan to arrive at the Sheraton Inn Airport (4700 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231) as early as possible to prevent pro-abortion activists from filling the room and silencing your voice.  Seating is limited, so not everyone will be able to get into the meeting, that’s why its so important to arrive early.  We encourage you to bring a handmade sign showing your support for life.  The meeting is likely to last several hours.  Please contact us if you have additional questions (804-343-0010 or
