Joe "The Plumber"

Prophetic Article? A Must Read To Understand The Future

A Barack Obama presidency has me scared for a long time for a number of reasons. There's the pending economic socialism and the disregard for innocent human life, among many urgent issues. During the campaign the many to whom I expressed my concern would respond with the conventional wisdom that he'll mess it up and the country will swing back to conservatism in the mid-term elections, as in 1994. (That's a big "if," predicated on whether the so-called conservatives in Congress remain scared of their own shadows and remain addicted to "big-government conservatism.")  I would reply to those who responded that way, "Not so fast." Conventional wisdom and the old models don't apply anymore. With such large majorities in Congress and control of the White House, the extreme, Angry Left will ram through several initiatives to permanently seal its institutional advantages. For example, the liberal media, which crossed from only being biased to all out left wing advocacy this campaign, will be cemented by the passing of the so-called Fairness Doctrine, minimizing (if not completely eliminating) conservative talk radio. Advantage, Left Wing Media.

How about the so-called Freedom of Choice Act? Senator Obama said it's the first bill he would sign. It would eliminate all state restrictions on abortion. (No need for state legislatures, then, huh?) Gone would be all parental consent, notification and regulations against partial birth abortion. Advantage, the government grant and profit machine known as Planned Parenthood (see, here).

The union card check bill, if it becomes law (see The Las Vegas Sun, here), will end the secret ballot in union organizing campaigns. This will create countless new union shops. Aside from the economic peril of making American industry less competitive, this bill will add tens of thousands of new union members to union rolls — along with their compulsary dues, which go to union political action committees and used to elect leftist candidates. Advantage, corrupt Leftist union bosses.

The public education establishment, which largely dumbs down children K-12, and the college education establishment, which largely indoctrinates them because, by then, students have been conditioned to feel rather than think, will get new, large amounts of federal grants to run their politically correct campus societies, further preaching liberal doctrine under the guise of teaching, both in the classroom and in campus regulations such as speech codes. Advantage, Leftist educrats and teachers union leaders.

I could go on. But someone else has for me. Give me one more minute.

When I extolled this theory, some saw credence. Some thought the conventional wisdom would magically re-write history in two years. Many thought I was looking for the man on the grassy knoll. My response was that I would write a thesis on it. End of minute. I don't have to write the thesis. Quin Hillyer, of The American Spectator, has. I don't know whether to celebrate that my theory has been vindicated or mad that I didn't publish it and get compensated for the idea first. Regardless, Hillyer's "Saul Alinsky Takes the White House" (click here) is a must read to understand what Christian conservatives and those who believe in traditional family values and limited constitutional government will face starting January 20, 2009. It is something we need to be prepared for and ready to work against — work very hard against.

Here's an excerpt:

Watch what Michael Barone called the Obama "thugocracy" use the Justice Department to stifle dissent. Anybody who complains about vote fraud will be charged with "vote suppression." Anybody who complains about DoJ's actions will be charged with interfering with an investigation. Anybody who denies having interfered will be charged with perjury. Likewise, anybody who peacefully protests abortion clinics or the use of state-sponsored racial quotas will be charged with a civil rights violation. And the accused won't be able to look to the Supreme Court for help: Anthony Kennedy's "evolving standards" of justice will evolve to match the new zeitgeist, providing a 5-4 majority for the administration. Meanwhile, of course, Obama's other appointments will be filling up the rest of the judiciary at a rapid clip, with nobody able to stop them.

Other ways the Obama axis will tilt the playing field: "card check" legislation to eliminate secret ballots in unionizing and to force union victories in contract negotiations. Provision after provision giving favors to the trial bar so it can sue enemies into submission. Copious new regulations, especially environmental, to be used selectively to ensnare other conservative malcontents. Invasive IRS audits of conservative think tanks, other conservative 501 organizations, and PACs.

What Ohio officials did in rifling through so many of Joe Wurzelbacher's files will serve as ample precedent. (Just watch, by the way: Nobody ever will be effectively disciplined for the violation of Wurzelbacher's rights.)

And, only when the time is right and the ground (or air) has been well prepared, will come the grand-daddy of all fights, the re-enactment of the misnamed "Fairness Doctrine."

It's not just Joe the Plumber. Remember Barbara West, the Florida anchor who dared asked Joe Biden tough questions? Her station was blacklisted. Three newspapers who endorsed John McCain had their political reporters thrown off the Obama press plane (see The Washington Times, here). That's before he was elected! But surely there are bigger fish to fry — perhaps IRS and government intimidation of churches and pastors? By the way, what's with the 250,000 member security force Senator Obama promised? (See Blue Collar Muse, here.)

The coming socialist, one-party state only will be a crazy conspiracy theory if people fully understand what's at stake and decide to get engaged, stay vigilant, remain active and work hard. Work very hard — starting now.

Let's Talk . . . About Talk And Experience

There's a lot of talk going on about  . . . talk. As well as experience. A Mainstream Media "reporter" (i.e., Obama advocate) I heard recently (and I'm sure she wasn't the only one) joined the debate over whether Senator Barack Obama was more qualified to be president than Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is to be vice president. She admitted that Senator Obama's resume was thin on experience and accomplishments but said that at least "Obama had been campaigning for two years talking about these issues."

Talk. That's all we need right now in Washington, D.C., is more talk. It's a wonder Chicago is called the "Windy City" when there are enough blowhards in D.C. to power the U.S.S. Nimitz. So Senator Obama is a good talker. That qualifies him to be Commander-In-Chief?

This reporter was trying to say, in code, "Obama is smarter than the hayseed from Alaska." It's the same elitism of the "bitter and clinging to their guns and religion" remarks as it is his ridicule of Joe The Plumber in a speech one day and dining on lobster and caviar the next at New York City's Waldorf Astoria.

It's ironic that the bumper sticker slogan of Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate (and Obama supporter) Senator Creigh Deeds (D-25, Charlottesville) is "Deeds. Not Words."

I didn't think much of this as blog material, but then last week, Senator Gaffe — uh, Biden, that is — said that his running mate's inexperience will certainly cause as many as "five or six international incidents" that will "test" Obama. Then I saw this just a while ago and it all came together to drive home the point. Exactly who does have more experience, indeed. Take a watch. The music is appropriate and stirring.

Will MSM Rue What It Sows?

If, as the Mainstream Media indicates, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is so disliked, then why did her convention speech, debate and Saturday Night Live appearance all set ratings records (even as her convention speech was carried by three less networks than the speech given by Senator Barack Obama at the Democrat convention)? The latest smear attempt — hacking into her personal e-mail, reporting vile rumors about her pregnancy and family, and contrived controversies not being enough, apparently — has to do with a wardrobe purchase by the Republican National Committee. The same gaggle of pundits who clamor for "real issues to be discussed" makes this an issue? (Even though associations with assorted ne'er-do-wells cannot be investigated.) If she's not a factor — and the MSM continues to ignore the massive crowds she draws, especially in Colorado recently where thousands waited hours in freezing temperatures to see her — then why the relentless attacks?

Of course, the more the MSM attacks her, the more popular she becomes among blue-collar, hard-working, Joe The Plumber average Americans, especially in battleground states such as Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The very possible irony about the "clothes controversy" is that it only highlights that she doesn't own a bunch of fancy duds and further reinforces the "she's one of us, a regular person, non-elitist" image of her — which is all true.

After all, not everyone can mysteriously can become a millionaire in three years (and get sweetheart deals for a mansion from convicted felons) after a career in community organizing. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the backlash at the MSM in rapidly declining ratings and subscriptions, and the popularity it engenders for its targets, reveals more than ever its transformation from journalism to out-and-out advocacy of an extreme left-wing agenda which has nothing in common with regular, hard-working, traditional values folk.

Not So Slick Talking Bishop Biden

Democrat vice presidential candidate Joe Biden earned the nickname "Bishop" for all the whoppers he's told trying to re-write the Catholic faith. Perhaps because of that, his gaffes on the more mundane political and policy issues seem to have escaped any serious scrutiny by the Mainstream Media. On the other hand, he makes so many gaffes, it's quite difficult to keep up and sort out. Jake Tapper of ABC News has a blog called Political Punch, surprisingly somewhat fair. About two weeks ago he tallied up Biden's gaffes at 29 (click here),although that may have been an undercount. A post by Tapper yesterday (click here) had Biden up to 32 gaffes (still low by our count). Yet all the media can focus on is Governor Sarah Palin's clothes. However, today, Tapper has a post about how much more accessible Governor Palin is to the media than the bishop.

We've wanted to document the bishop's gaffes but they fly out of his mouth faster than we can write and post the video. Thankfully, Michelle Malkin came along. Today, she published a column on Biden's gaffes, recounting some of his biggest hits, all the more relevant because Biden has been known to brag about his allegedly high IQ.

Some of our favorite Biden blusters:

» Telling Katie Couric Franklin Roosevelt was president in 1929 and addressed the nation on television about the Great Depression;

» Telling a crippled state senator to "stand up, Chuck!";

» Telling Kate Snow of ABC News that paying higher taxes is patriotic;

» Admitting that Hillary Clinton would have been a VP better choice than he;

» Just recently telling a crowd that the major issue in the campaign comes down to a "three-letter word: J-O-B-S;"

» Ridiculing Joe "The Plumber" by saying "no plumbers or cops live in my neighborhood," perhaps because Biden lives in a $3 million house (which misstated Joe's complaint anyway — Joe's not rich now, but he wants to buy a business one day and be real successful, which apparently Biden and Barack Obama think only the elites can do);

» Telling an environmentalist in Ohio that he and his running mate are against clean coal technology, while Obama told a crowd in Virginia that they are for it; and

» Admitting that if elected, "five or six" rogue regimes would start international incidents to "test" Barack Obama. Very reassuring.

This is on top of his documented 14 lies during his debate with Governor Palin.

By the way, with all the dislike the Mainstream Media says Americans have for Governor Palin, why has she set records for viewership for her convention acceptance speech (although fewer networks carried it), for the vice presidential debate and for last weekend's Saturday Night Live? All blew away any number that Senator Obama received. So, to be fair: Since we posted a video of Barack Obama's gaffes last week, here's a video of Bishop Biden's:
