Hundreds Attend Virginia Stands For Life Rally, Send Huge Message To General Assembly! #VAStands4Life14

Hundreds of pro-life Virginians traveled across the commonwealth and braved cold temperatures to send the General Assembly a clear message: Virginians oppose the abhorrence of abortion and expect lawmakers to uphold the sanctity of life (see Richmond Times-Dispatch). Keynote speaker Lila Rose vividly illustrated that message and the particularly heinous nature of abortion from her unique perspective as founder of Live Action, a new media pro-life investigative organization that goes undercover to expose the abortion industry's corruption and abuse. Ms. Rose founded Live Action at age 15 and has had Planned Parenthood on the run ever since. Later, she spoke to dozens of pastors at a Pastors For Family Values luncheon.

Joining her in speaking to the attendees were emcee Olivia Gans Turner of American Victims of Abortion; Susan Null, executive director of the Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center;  and Family Foundation President Victoria Cobb. The Reverend Bob Collins, founding pastor of World Outreach Worship Center, prayed the invocation. Afterward, attendees visited their delegates and senators to encourage them to support pro-life legislation, maintain the gains made the last three years, and oppose actions that would make abortion more available.

Here is the official statement of the 14 partner organizations, including The Family Foundation, that hosted the 2014 Virginia Stands for Life Gathering (#VAStands4Life14):

This morning hundreds of pro-life Virginians came together to stand united in support of the sanctity of human life and to remind elected officials and the public that the pro-life movement in Virginia is thriving. The women and men at the event celebrated the 16 percent drop in Virginia's abortion rate over the past three years (a 22 percent drop among Virginia women), while hoping to encourage Virginia's elected officials to remain steadfast in their support of protective pro-life laws and legislation.

Several national and state pro-life organizations united together for today’s rally, bringing their supporters to Richmond to encourage reasonable and protective measures that seek to protect the lives of unborn children, the elderly and those with disabilities. With a new incoming administration, the organizers of today's peaceful event encouraged our elected officials to stand strong in the face of attempts to erode the significant recent pro-life gains that protect innocent unborn life and women.

All of the organizations and their constituents who were represented in this rally are committed to continuing to defend and advance the cause of unborn life, access to adoption, and the protection of human life. We will continue to voice the truth about the value of human life. As more Americans become pro-life every day, we are optimistic about the future for the unborn and the vulnerable in America and Virginia.

So, It's A Little Chilly Outside. But Lila Rose Will Fire You Up (For Life)!

Don't forget that this Wednesday, January 8, is our 2nd Annual Prayer Walk and Virginia Stands for Life Gathering at the State Capitol. It looks like the weather will be good — sunny and around 41 degrees — and only a 10 percent chance of rain. So put on your warm clothes, some comfortable shoes and join us as we pray and proclaim the value of life, from conception until natural death. Making the event especially worth your attendance is our keynote speaker, Lila Rose. The founder of LiveAction.org, and one of America's most dynamic pro-life leaders, will make her first public appearance in Virginia at the Virginia Stands for Life Gathering. Since age 15, when she founded Live Action, she has dedicated herself to building a culture of life and ending abortion — and has had the abortion industry on the run ever since.

Through its undercover investigations, videos, films and social media expertise exposing corruption and illegal activity at Planned Parenthood — such as concealing statutory rape in order to perform abortions on teenagers — Lila Rose and Live Action has changed the perception of the abortion industry to an entirely new generation, helping shift large percentages of young people into the pro-life camp. Even more established institutions, such as the mainstream media can no longer ignore the inglorious activities of the abortion industry, such as the Kermit Gosnell trial.

Before Live Action, Planned Parenthood was viewed as a non-profit "women's health care provider." Now, it is viewed more and more as a mega-profit-making, taxpayer-subsidized, abortion-as-first-option-at-any-cost behemoth. LiveAction.org's undercover videos, which document abortion providers as they truly conduct their practices, merit headlines on major media outlets and Lila Rose is a frequent guest on news programs, such as The O'Reilly Factor.

We believe her boldness, passion for life, and her willingness — even as a teenager — to take on such a powerful industry, will inspire and encourage you to stand for truth in a culture that is losing its way. We guarantee that no matter how cold it may get outside Wednesday, Lila Rose and our program will fire you up . . . for Life!

Lila Rose

Pro-life heroine Lila Rose, the 2014 Virginia Stands For Life Gathering keynote speaker.

Here is the schedule for the Virginia Stands for Life Gathering (#VAStands4Life14):

9:00 a.m.:  2nd Annual Prayer Walk, starting at both the Greater Richmond Convention Center (Room B15a) and inside the State Capitol Building (House Room 1). Select the location that best suits your parking preference (here is a link to directions and a parking map).

10:00 a.m.: Virginia Stands for Life Gathering starts. Join with hundreds of pro-life Virginians as we declare our stand for life to the legislators in the General Assembly as well as to the principalities and powers that St. Paul refers to in Ephesians 6. After the gathering, visit your legislators' offices and leave a provided pre-printed card encouraging them to support life from conception to natural death. Please consider staying after that and visiting either the Senate or House as they open their sessions at noon. We will have a delegate and senator recognize visitors in the gallery who are here for Virginia Stands for Life Day. We would like to have a good contingent in each chamber to stand during this recognition time.

To register for this important time at our State Capitol, click here.

If you are a pastor, click here instead to register for our Pastors for Family Values complimentary luncheon at the conclusion of the Gathering. If you are not a pastor, but think he would be interested, please forward this link to him.

Live Action's Lila Rose Will Be Keynote Speaker At Virginia Stands For Life Rally!

We are proud to confirm that Lila Rose, the founder of Live Action, and perhaps the most influential person in the national debate on abortion, will be the keynote speaker at the Virginia Stands For Life Rally on January 8 in Capitol Square. You will not want to miss this event and this most dynamic, intelligent, creative and articulate defender of life and exposer of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry. From the age of 15, when she founded Live Action, Ms. Rose has dedicated herself to building a culture of life and ending abortion. By the time she was an undergraduate at UCLA (which wasn't that long ago), it became one of the country's most effective non-profit organizations — a groundbreaking, investigative organization through the use of the then new technologies of digital and social media (see CNN feature). Live Action's game changing techniques forced the mainstream media to report abortion industry abuses that it previously ignored and that began changing the public's view on abortion and Planned Parenthood.

She has led Live Action's numerous undercover investigations, which have exposed corruption and illegal activity at Planned Parenthood. Her work has documented rampant sexual abuse cover up, medical misinformation, racism, willingness to assist sex traffickers, and false statements by Planned Parenthood executives. Live Action videos make national headlines and have generated millions of views online. She is a frequent guest on The O'Reilly Factor, The Glenn Beck Show, The Laura Ingraham Show and many other news and talk programs on radio, television and the Internet.

Lila Rose

Pro-life dynamo: Live Action's Lila Rose.

Between the abortion industry mobilizing in opposition to pro-life bills and its spending nearly $2 million against pro-life candidates this past election, many elected officials fear even to mention their pro-life positions. Last January, however, they got the clear message that life matters when nearly 1,000 people showed up on the first day of session to pray and stand for women and their unborn children at the first ever Virginia Stands For Life Rally. They also visited those elected officials' General Assembly offices! It sent a powerful message to members of the General Assembly and media.

The opportunity to do that again occurs when the General Assembly convenes on January 8. Our goal is to have 1,500 people from across Virginia come to Richmond that morning in Capitol Square and be a voice for those who have no voice. Watch the following video and click here for event specifics and to register to be in RIchmond on January 8:

Combat the War On The Unborn. Virginia's politicians need to know Virginia is pro-life!

Gosnell: Exception Or Rule?

Twelve Philadelphians are now meeting to determine the fate of America’s most notorious abortion "provider," Kermit Gosnell, after weeks of hearing evidence alleging he murdered hundreds of born-alive babies and at least one woman. As we await the verdict, the conversation surrounding his "house of horrors" has centered around the question of whether or not Gosnell is an anomaly in an otherwise safe and health care-focused industry, or if the abortion industry has more Gosnells that simply have yet to be discovered. Obviously, the abortion industry and most in the mainstream media would have us believe that Gosnell is an aberration caused more by the lack of government (taxpayer) funding than unmitigated inhumanity and evil (what, you thought they'd actually admit the guy is evil?).

But facts surrounding that case, and the pattern that is developing in many states regarding the abortion industry's lack of concern for health and safety, not to mention its utter lack of recognition of human dignity and worth, have to lead any reasonable, thoughtful American to wonder just what the truth might be. Given that representatives of Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation knew what was happening inside Gosnell's clinic, knew of the despicable conditions and rumors of the murders, and did absolutely nothing about it, reasonable people should be questioning the abortion industry's claims.

We certainly know the media isn't going to do it for us.

Yesterday, the pro-life group Live Action released videos from two abortion centers, one in Washington, D.C., and one in New York City, that show doctors at those facilities admitting that they would do nothing to save the lives of born-alive babies, babies who are living, breathing human beings. This comes on the heels of disturbing testimony by a Planned Parenthood representative in Florida who, before a legislative committee, essentially defended euthanasia on the basis that the decision to keep a new born baby alive is "between a woman and her doctor."

Do these incidents represent the true philosophy of the entire abortion industry? Are they so callous to all human life that even those babies already born are viewed as disposable waste, nothing more than "products of conception" that can be flushed down a toilet or run through a garbage disposal? Do they care so little about the women that enter their facilities that they will keep quiet even when they know about horrifically unsanitary conditions that put lives at risk?

And perhaps worse, how can these incidents not elicit any kind of outrage from the public, let alone politicians? Or is it that the reality of what the abortion industry is really about forcing people to ask questions about their own "pro-choice" attitudes that they really never wanted to have to ask? Uncomfortable yet?

In Virginia, the abortion industry has been quick to dismiss Gosnell. Mind you, we have yet to hear anyone within the Virginia abortion industry, its defenders in the General Assembly, candidates for statewide office, or editorial pages utter a single word of criticism. Hysterical in all other ways, the Virginia abortion industry's silence on Gosnell is deafening. But maybe they know something we don't. After all, abortion operators like Steven Brigham and Diane Derzis — both of whom operate facilities in Virginia — have long records of health and safety violations in other states, and have had abortion centers closed by public health officials and their medical license revoked or suspended. Their abortion centers here, under inspections that were part of the emergency safety standards under the 2011 abortion center legislation, were found to have dozens of health and safety violations.

Are there Gosnells in Virginia? No one outside the abortion industry really knows. Virginia's facilities had weeks to clean up their act before announced inspections last year, after going two decades with no oversight at all. Despite the warning, nearly 300 deficiencies were found. And while the media continues to whine about construction standards, it remains silent on the blood stained patient tables, unsterilized equipment, expired drugs and untrained staffs. What was happening in those places before health inspectors gained access is anyone's guess.

Earlier this week the editorial writers at the Washington Post put to ink their tears over the closing of one abortion center in Virginia, allegedly because its owners don't have the money to upgrade the facility to meet Virginia's new health and safety standards. They were horrified at the thought that one out of 20 abortion centers is closing. Incredibly, the Post labeled the clinic a "victim," while the same newspaper for weeks did all it could to intentionally ignore the hundreds of true, human victims of Kermit Gosnell. The disconnect from basic humanity rendered in that dichotomy tells us all we need to know about how incapable too many in the media are at recognizing evil, at seeing human victims in the faces of tiny babies murdered at the hands of a profiteer.

God help us if the public feels the same way.

Truths And Facts About The Abortion Industry: What It Doesn't Want You To Know

Last week and the week before, in the run-up to the vote by the Virginia Board of Health's vote to approve abortion center regulations drafted by the Department of Health, we posted on our Facebook page and tweeted one truth or fact per day about the abortion industry in order to cut through the misinformation pumped out by its well funded and powerful lobby. Below, we have reconstituted them, added four more, expanded on others, and provided a couple of reference links as we continue to provide more information about the nefarious abortion industry and as public sentiment continues to grow in favor of these common sense measures — even though the Mainstream Media continues its pandering to the pro-abortion side (see The Daily Press as an example). Speaking of Facebook and Twitter, this is a good time to remind you that if you do not follow us on those social media networks yet, be sure to join us there and remind others you think would be interested. We post exclusive content there, link to newly written blog posts, announce breaking news from state government and politics, capitol square, the General Assembly and important regulatory meetings, as well as provide Family Foundation, grassroots activist and pastors updates. Click here to join us on Facebook and click here to follow us on Twitter.

Truths and Facts about the abortion industry:

Truth: Waivers available through regulations give abortion centers ability to make a case to the Department of Health that some construction standards are not necessary for the procedure.

Fact: The abortion industry claims it self regulates, but the National Abortion Federation standards allow non-physicians to perform surgical abortions!

Truth: During the last three General Assembly sessions, the abortion industry rejected "regulation lite" — just an annual inspection, licensing and emergency equipment. It simply does not want even the slightest independent oversight. (See Thomas Peters at LiveAction.org's blog.)

Fact: Currently, a woman who wants to report a medical complication resulting from an abortion must give up her privacy.

Truth: The abortion industry claims it is safe, but there is absolutely no way to know. It has blocked efforts to require reporting of medical complications due to abortion.

Fact: In Arizona, the legislature called the abortion industry's bluff, and codified the abortion industry's supposed self-governing regulations. The abortion industry immediately sued Arizona!

Truth: Planned Parenthood is a $1 billion industry (see Lisa Grass at LiveAction). It can easily afford the cost of the regulations to its facilities.

Fact: Abortion center regulations are not politically motivated. The Department of Health that drafted them is directed by an appointee by former Governor Tim Kaine, a Democrat.

Truth: Opposition to abortion has and always will be bi-partisan. Of the 12 votes in last week's 12-1 vote by the Board of Health to approve the Department of Heath's abortion center regulations, three were by appointees of former Governor Kaine. (A fourth was the lone dissenting vote and not one of his amendments received a seconding motion.)

Fact: Of the 15 board members, nine are Republican appointees and six are Democrats (two did not attend).

Fact: Planned Parenthood says abortion is only a small part of its business, that it offers a full range of medical services — even to men. If so, then how can abortion center regulations put them out of business?

The Pro Choice Crisis?

It's been interesting to watch the pro-choice movement over the years. Admittedly, I wasn't around to do much watching in the 1970s right after Roe v. Wade. However, it appears that the general perspective was that the unborn child, as I would refer to him or her, was considered little more than a blob of tissue pretty much until it was born and wanted. That belief has been shown to be fiction over time as science has proved what I've always known as a matter of my faith — that it's a human being much earlier than that, as in from conception. The first shift in discussing abortion that I recall started with the concept of viability. The earlier a baby could be born and survive, the more folks on all sides had to acknowledge that it must be more than a blob at some point, though defining that particular point was difficult for pro-aborts. Currently, this once-called blob can survive outside the womb at 21 weeks.

To make matters worse for the abortion movement, Time magazine and others started reporting on fetal surgery and how the unborn child would react to stimuli doctors used in the womb. Then GE launched the 4D ultrasound. Now, the non-biased viewer saw things a lot clearer than the black and white skeletal image to which people had grown accustomed.

These scientific advances have caused a change in dialogue (and a change in opinion?). Of late, one mostly hears groups such as Planned Parenthood and NARAL talk not in terms of who's in the womb, but in terms of the circumstances the woman faces that merit her taking of human life: the pregnant mom is in poverty, a victim of rape, wouldn't be able to complete her education, "health care." These are real situations and not ones to make light of. However, recent news is bringing to light other circumstances that result in abortion — sex selection and extra embryos.

Not long ago we reported on sex selective abortions. While most associate this problem with India or China's one-child policy (something Joe Biden "understands," see Lisa Graas at LiveAction Blog), the use of sex selection is alive and well in the U.S (see New York Times). Unlike the UK and other places where such a practice has been banned, here it is perfectly legal. It can be done through abortion or one can simply fly to Las Vegas and pay $20,000 to choose an embryo by gender to implant through in vitro fertilization. Even if one doesn't choose to implant a specific sex but implants multiple embryos, one can engage in "twin reduction." This is the process whereby IVF clients implant multiple embryos and when they thrive in the womb, the “parents” then choose one embryo to eliminate through abortion. Given two healthy babies, sex selection can be the basis for that decision. After all, according to Gallup, 45 percent of respondents would choose a boy if they could have only one child, a number nearly double those choosing a girl (27 percent cited no preference).

Couple this practice with recent news of a 95-percent-plus accurate blood test that determines the sex of an unborn child at seven weeks (at least seven-13 weeks earlier than the oft-used ultrasound method, see CBSNews.com), and you see where this is leading. Much like the 4D ultrasound, used only for high-risk pregnancies but available commercially, some in the medical community use this blood test to detect sex-related genetic disorders, but it also is available for purchase by customers of all stripes. In a largely meaningless gesture, the primary seller of the kit, Consumer Genetics, Inc., does require an agreement from purchasers stating that the purpose of testing is not sex selection before it processes the results.

Both "twin reduction" and "sex selection" do appear to be causing some heartburn among "pro-choicers (see William Saletan at Slate.com).When the movement was focused on a blob of tissue, no discussion of motivation was necessary. Since scientific advances have forced proponents of abortion to turn the discussion into a balance between the needs of the mother and the value of the unborn child, motivation becomes relevant. Is abortion acceptable under any and all circumstances? Should someone be able to create a child, implant it and then choose to extinguish its perfectly healthy life as a result of it being one more than was intended? Doesn't the fact that they consciously attempt to create a child prove it is a life? Is it acceptable to society that a woman may choose to get pregnant as frequently as she chooses and abort any number of times to get the desired "boy" result on the seven week blood test?

Interestingly enough, we may have discovered a point where feminism contradicts itself. Can feminism hold onto the view that a woman has a "right to choose" in all circumstances, even if it results in legalized inequality between sexes in the womb?

While this blood test tragically may increase abortion, it has potential fatal ramification for the "pro-choice" movement: This once-called blob of tissue now not only has a discernable heartbeat at six weeks, its sex can be determined at seven. Those defending abortion on demand continue to run headlong into the great words of Dr. Suess: "A person's a person, no matter how small."

Common Ground On Abortion?

Last week, Gallup released some very encouraging polling numbers regarding abortion regulations. Since the poll didn't relate to homosexual activity or signal growing support of abortion, the national news media decided you didn't need to know. We did. The poll, conducted in July and released last week, shows that even self-identified "pro-choice" Americans are more likely to support laws prohibiting abortion after the first trimester except for the most extreme circumstances. A majority polled also stated that abortion should be illegal in all or most circumstances. Support was overwhelming for laws such as parental consent, informed consent and bans on partial birth abortion, all of which we have successfully passed in Virginia.

It seems that the extreme abortion industry, led by Planned Parenthood and NARAL, have seen that they are rapidly losing ground in the area of public opinion. Rants on NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia's blog chastise the General Assembly for passing the most reasonable and widely supported abortion measures, such as parental consent and informed consent. As public opinion continues to move toward life, the pro-abortion rhetoric gets more desperate — and peculiar. In Arizona, for example, Planned Parenthood argued against a requirement that abortions be performed by a licensed doctor, calling it an "undue burden." Luckily, the state appeals court last week unanimously rejected its argument. (See another Planned Parenthood deception, here, at LiveAction.org. You won't believe the new low road it's taken.)

Clearly outside the mainstream, these organizations continue to advocate abortion on demand throughout pregnancy with no restrictions and no oversight — and support forcing you to pay for it. Except for a very few, such thinking is clearly beyond the values most Virginians share and explains why pro-abortion candidates that take these extreme positions are fewer and fewer in number.

We understand that, as with polling on homosexual behavior and marriage, opinions on abortion often are confused and conflicting. One isolated media poll does not the truth make. For example, within a few days earlier this summer two separate polls came to opposite conclusions on the issue of same-sex marriage. Regardless of the polling, all that really matters is that the 31 times the issue has been put to a vote, traditional marriage has won. Plus, Virginians continue to send pro-marriage legislators to Richmond.

The same holds true for the issue of abortion. Virginians have been sending more and more pro-life legislators to Richmond in recent elections, indicating that the abortion polling numbers may be on to something. As we've said for years, more and more Americans — and Virginians — are becoming pro-life every day. The results are the passage of reasonable, common sense measures, such as abortion center safety regulations. Consequently, we look forward to having more pro-life advocates in the General Assembly this coming January.

Party Down For Free Birth Control With Planned Parenthood!

Now that "free" (i.e., government mandated) birth control will be available through health care coverage from insurance companies, as per the Obama administration through the authoritarian provisions of ObamaCare, Planned Parenthood decided to throw down with a . . . a . . . a . . . well, we're not exactly sure what this is . . . except bizarre and a natural match for the brand that is Planned Parenthood (see Thomas Peters at LiveAction's blog).

A dancing birth control device and a spoof of a popular movie: A strange video for a peculiar bunch. Planned Parenthood celebrates publicly financed "free" birth control.

Project Veritas Medicaid Sting: Planned Parenthood's Week Just Got Worse!

Earlier this week conservative video undercover sting impresario James O'Keefe (see Project Veritas) released a video from an Ohio Medicaid office that not only showed how rampant and outrageously out of control Medicaid fraud appears but, coincidentally, how in cahoots it seems at least some in Medicaid are with Planned Parenthood. Although tangential, it was worth commenting upon and made my queue. Then, the who thing struck home. Literally. Not unlike last winter when LiveAction stung Planned Parenthood in Richmond and Roanoke with undercover videos of employees apparently obliging under-age, illegal-alien sex trafficking, Mr. O'Keefe (perhaps with a precedent established for potential corruption in the capital city, brought his investigation to Richmond. Last night he released the shocking results: The Medicaid counselor seems even more eager than her Ohio counterpart to accommodate Mr. O'Keefe's Russian drug-dealer character, get his family enrolled in medicaid and tolerate his prostitution ring, which includes his "16-year-old sister."

According to the Associated Press:

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli watched the video, found it "troubling" and ordered his Medicaid Fraud unit to investigate, said Brian Gottstein, Cuccinelli's press secretary.

Gov. Bob McDonnell asked the State Police to review it, said administration spokesman J. Tucker Martin.

However, unfortunately, Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones' office sounded rather defensive, even skeptical of the evidence:

Michael Wallace, a spokesman for Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones, said the city is "investigating this matter to determine the validity of the tape and the information. We will handle this matter as needed through the established disciplinary channels."

While the Richmond Medicaid employee does provide information on certain services, she does not specifically mention Planned Parenthood. But that's okay. The Ohio employee more than makes up for it, capping a horrendous week for the abortion-on-demand provider.

First, it has a rough time of it at a Department of Health hearing for a certificate of public need to expand its Virginia Beach abortion center. Then it whines about the lack of free birth control in ObamaCare (see CBS6.com, more next week). Then it shows its desperation over yet-to-be formulated abortion center regulations. It's capped by what might be the beginning of a major Medicaid scandal that casts a more-repugnant-than-normal pall over its reputation:

Why was the Ohio Medicaid employee ever ready and eager with information about Planned Parenthood's willingness to provide abortions for underage prostitutes? What is it about Planned Parenthood that would prompt this woman to say Planned Parenthood "doesn't care about age" and keep other information from authorities? What is it about Planned Parenthood that the woman's supervisor also refers the "Russian" to Planned Parenthood?

You know what they say about marketing: The best advertising is word of mouth. In this case, sadly, it cuts both ways.

Starting with the Richmond version, here are the tapes in question:

According to Project Veritas, this is one of the most "egregious" of its undercover investigations. That's pretty bad.

In Ohio, a Medicaid employee is eager to refer an underage girl prostitute to Planned Parenthood which "doesn't care about age."

Planned Parenthood Fights Amendment Eliminating Taxpayer Funded Elective Abortions

Planned Parenthood (see LiveAction's latest undercover video) is fighting a budget amendment introduced by Governor Bob McDonnell that would prohibit taxpayer funding of most elective, low-income abortions. The General Assembly will vote on the amendment during tomorrow’s veto session.

We need your immediate action to thwart Planned Parenthood's attack!

Polls consistently show that between 60 and 70 percent of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion. Opposition that crosses gender and political lines exposes Planned Parenthood as extremely outside the mainstream but, unfortunately, they have influence in the Virginia Senate.

The Family Foundation and several of our pro-life partners have advocated for this amendment for several years. The amendment brings Virginia substantially in line with federal law that requires we pay for abortions in the instances of rape, incest or life of the mother. Currently, Virginia is one of only 17 states that funds elective (i.e., "health" of the mother) abortions.

To make matters more interesting, with a Senate chamber almost evenly divided politically, there is a strong possibility the vote on the amendment could be a tie. In that case, the presiding officer would cast the tiebreaking vote, and normally that is Lt. Governor Bill Bolling. Unfortunately, the Lt. Governor Bolling is stranded in Italy due to the travel restrictions over that Europe caused by the volcanic ash cloud emanating from Iceland. Thus, the President Pro Tem, Senator Chuck Colgan (D-29, Manassas), will preside.

We believe the key to sustaining the amendment lies with a few key legislators: Senators Colgan, Roscoe Reynolds (D-20, Martinsville), Phil Puckett (D-38, Tazewell) and Fred Quayle (R-13, Suffolk). Please contact these Senators immediately by clicking the links to e-mail them and urge them to vote yes on Governor McDonnell's elective abortion amendment.

Senator Fred Quayle: district13@senate.virginia.gov

Senator Roscoe Reynolds: district20@senate.virginia.gov

Senator Chuck Colgan: district29@senate.virginia.gov

Senator Phil Puckett: district38@senate.virginia.gov

No Choice At Planned Parenthood: An "Abortion First Mentality"

Planned Parenthood talks a lot about "choice." However, undercover video after undercover video has exposed the nation's leading abortion provider as anything but an organization concerned with providing options, women's health or even upholding the law, covering up potential sexual abuse (see video here) and statutory rape cases (see video here) rather than notify law enforcement, all to procure paying customers. Now, another shocking undercover video recently released by Live Action shows — as if we didn't already know — that Planned Parenthood personnel will lie about health and medical issues, straight to a woman's face, in order to suck in another check. To do that, Planned Parenthood "counselors" and abortionists attempt to dehumanize babies through manipulative word play. It's an attempt to sever all cognitive, rational and loving connection between the mother and her baby, specifically by refusing to use the word "baby," even correcting the "patient" (i.e., victim) when she says "baby." Instead, they euphemistically call the baby a "pregnancy" or "fetus" and say it's not a baby "until it's born."

Planned Parenthood even lies about heart beats, instead saying the the unborn baby has "heart tones" up to a certain point, whatever that might mean. But perhaps the most apalling lies come from the abortionist himself, when he tells the "patient" that abortions are "very safe. Safer than having a baby, actually." Which doesn't exactly explain why a New Jersey woman went into a coma after a botched abortion and recently won $1.9 million in a settlement (see LifeNews.com).

Perhaps more disturbing, and something to look into for an enterprising Wisconsin attorney (where the undercover video was taken), is that the abortionist admits to performing abortions for 40 years, which means he started four years before Roe v. Wade legalized it. Jeremy Wiggins adds his comments on the video and the New Jersey case at Rightly Concerned. (You can see all of Live Action's Planned Parenthood undercover videos at its YouTube channel, here.)

It all points to Planned Parenthood's reason for being, succinctly stated by Lila Rose, Live Action's president:

Planned Parenthood, while claiming to support patient self-determination, operates with an 'abortion-first mentality.'

Nothing proves it more shockingly and vividly than this video:

Disconnecting the mother from her baby rhetorically and emotionally by dehumanizing the baby: Remember, it's "heart tones," NOT "heart beats;" it's a "pregnancy," NOT a "baby." Not to mention an abortionist who says he's performed abortions longer than they've been legal.
