If you did not hear the Army Choir's performance of The Battle Hymn of the Republic Wednesday at the White House welcoming ceremony for Pope Benedict XVI, you will do yourself an immense favor by finding it somewhere and having a listen. You will not find anything worth doing for the next several minutes after its conclusion; every subsequent sound, no matter how sweet, an annoyance. It, quite possibly, was the most stirring sound ever to emanate from humans on this land or perhaps any land.
