Free Showing Of "Bella" This Saturday Afternoon!Jun 25, 2008
The Richmond Coalition for Life is sponsoring a free matinee of the widely acclaimed (and pro-life message) movie Bella this Saturday at 1:30 at Richmond's historic Byrd theater in the city's Carytown neighborhood. If you live in the area or are planning to visit, make the movie part of your weekend activities. While the tickets are free, they must be reserved. For more details, including directions to the Byrd, visit the new Richmond Coalition for Life blog (click here). Bella is a heartwarming, inspirational and powerful movie that sends a strong, positive message about life. Not only is it clean and wholesome, but incredibly well produced: It won the Toronto Film Festival's People's Choice Award, which counts American Beauty, Chariots of Fire and Life is Beautiful as past winners.
In October, Bella's producers told those in attendance at Family Research Council's Washington Briefing that seven women who watched Bella in pre-release screenings cancelled their planned abortions. That's an endorsement better than any review or award. In addition to the movie screening, the Richmond Coalition for Life will hold a raffle for some great prizes, update attendees on how to help get pro-life license plates in Virginia and provide information on this fall's 40 Days for Life campaign (click here to read our commentary on it). It's supposed to be hot this weekend. So come by the air conditioned Byrd. It should be a wonderful afternoon in a beautiful, historic neighborhood where stands an old-fashioned movie palace — wonderfully symbolic of a time gone by when values still mattered — for a movie about time-honored values. We hope to see you there.
