Girl Scouts Not Outdone By Boy ScoutsJun 05, 2013
While much media attention the last few weeks focused on the intense pressure left wing, homosexual and secular groups applied to the Boy Scouts of America leadership to change its policy and allow open homosexuals into its ranks, which it did, the Girl Scouts were not to be out done. On May 9, in New York City, Girl Scouts USA sponsored a screening of "MAKERS," a feminist, pro-abortion documentary about women whose "contributions" changed America. The event was hosted by two ardent pro-abortion feminists, Marlo Thomas and Amy Richards who also led a discussion after the video. Mary Hasson documents the entire day of indoctrination, here, at LifeNews.com. According to her:
The event, co-sponsored by Girls, Inc. of NYC and the public broadcasting station WNET, featured Girl Scouts front and center. From the banner backdrop on stage, sporting the logo of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York, to the moderator’s warm shout outs to the Girl Scouts in the audience, to the college-student panelist who identified herself as a former Girl Scout, the event was all about promoting MAKERS to the Girl Scouts.
In fact, the producer of the documentary explained during the panel discussion that they chose an online platform for MAKERS because “We knew we wanted to reach an audience like Girl Scouts” and girls are online more than anywhere else. Far from being a local event of one council, the MAKERS event garnered support from the Girl Scouts USA. The national group promoted the New York event on Twitter, inviting young Girl Scouts to “join” the live event or to watch it online later. And the MAKERS Facebook page included a photo after the event of the grinning producer surrounded by a group of Girl Scouts.
While it profiles the occasional businesswoman, politician, or athlete, the documentary shown at the screening is chock-full of interviews promoting abortion, lesbian rights, and sexual freedom. Not exactly wholesome content for Girl Scouts.
While Thomas is a familiar figure — during her portion of the post-movie discussion, she proclaimed the reason she hasn't married boyfriend Phil Donahue all these years is that she "can't mate in captivity" — is less known. But she is featured in "MAKERS" and CV includes such positions as co-founder of the pro-abortion Third Wave Foundation, writer, advisor to Planned Parenthood NYC and member of the MAKERS Board of Advisors . . . and proud recipient of two abortions, which she gladly described in the video below. It's chilling in her nonchalance and her glee in discovering "selective abortions," which she had.
Meanwhile, the Girl Scouts USA web site provides all types of links and resources to the MAKERS project and other pro-abortion feminist organizations. Even though no vote was taken and no policy was officially changed or adopted, Girl Scouts USA has outdone the Boy Scouts' unfortunate decision. At least the Boy Scouts had a vote (though, from what I understand, not transparent) and announced a policy that members now know about and are free to leave if they disagree (and many church sponsored troops will leave and form their own scouting association).
The Girl Scouts, though, are indoctrinating impressionable youngsters through an unannounced policy, with an ongoing diet of a distorted, discredited "feminism" as a norm, and even encouraging them to make a "social revolution." Who said boys give parents more trouble than girls?
