In a postmodern culture, as we are learning, the definition of words is not absolute.  On top of that, you can simply stop calling something what it is so it’s more palatable. The most recent example of this is the “conscious uncoupling” of the entertainment super couple Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.  You see, up until now, it's been called divorce.  But obviously, that word isn’t very appealing.  It has some fairly negative connotations.  So, we’ll just stop calling it divorce, rename it conscious uncoupling, and everybody wins!

Which got me to thinking.  Since the General Assembly is still bickering over the Senate’s conscious decision to couple the budget with Medicaid, maybe if we just tell them that it’s time for some conscious uncoupling….

See, everybody wins!
