Senator Rubio Is Correct: The Science Is SettledMay 21, 2014
By now it should be clear to everyone. The science is settled and you can't argue with science. If you don't believe the science, you are a denier and live in a world of fantasy and have never read a book in your life. No, I don't mean climate change, the topic of which is associated with the words above. They are no parody of what many on the Left accuse, say and write about conservatives who point to the fact that there is no science behind "man made climate change," but rather computer models based on hypotheses. Rather, I refer to the science being settled on the issue of Life, because it is, and recently U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) forcefully made the Left confront this Truth.
He sent the Left into convulsions of outrage with his answer to a question about climate change (see Stephen White at CathoicVote.org Blog). When he said he didn't believe that climate change, to the extent that it is happening, is man caused, he came under predictably heavy fire as uncaring about the environment and putting Earth at risk in order to support evil corporations — not to mention the assault on his intelligence.
He subsequently replied that he couldn't understand why the same people who believe "the science is settled" on that topic don't believe the obvious science (such as ultrasound imaging) that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that living beings reside inside a woman's womb. Ergo, the opening of this post.
All these people always wag their finger at me about ‘science’ and ‘settled science.’ Let me give you a bit of settled science that they’ll never admit to. The science is settled, it’s not even a consensus, it is a unanimity, that human life begins at conception. So I hope the next time that someone wags their finger about science, they’ll ask one of these leaders on the left: ‘Do you agree with the consensus of scientists that say that human life begins at conception?’ I’d like to see someone ask that question.
The Left had a conniption fit (see Molly Hemmingway at TheFederalist.com). It typically avoided the Life question and fell back to its standard of ridicule, complete with the stereotype of conservatives as intellectually feeble.
However, this more-than-usual-over-the-top-vitriol was a reaction to the particularly stinging nature of Rubio's truth (see LifeNews.com's for msnbc's response). It forced the Left to look themselves in the mirror, a hypocritical sight in which it could not find comfort. Whereas there is ample debate and scientific studies on both sides of the climate issue, an ultrasound picture speaks a 1,000 words, and they all say Life. Senator Rubio basically said the words in the opening paragraph — the epitome of left wing intimidation — back at them.
The distinction is that his wasn't an attempt to intimidate in order to advance policy aims that could lead to a further collectivization of America. It simply was, and is, the scientific truth. There is no factual debate that what is inside a mother's womb is a life. Period. It's a truth that upsets the Left because it is something that cannot be bent into its secular gospel, nor will it go away no matter how much and how long it propagandizes to the contrary. That's what upsets the Left and catapults it into desperation and fits of retribution.
The Truth indeed sets one free and it protects as well. The only reason this Truth will shock so many is because it flies in the face of the Left's sacrament of abortion, and because the popular culture has made science its brush stroke to caricature as rubes Christians, conservatives and anyone who disagrees with it — another example of redefining an eternal truth. In this case, it's because of the secular hypocrisy toward environmentalism and abortion — save God's Earth, but kill those who are created in His image because too many people will destroy the Earth.
By the way, if the Left wants some science, I've got some science: Its beyond apoplectic hysteria to Senator Rubio proves the old theorem that every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. Now, there's some science for ya!
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has upset the Left by telling the truth. The science IS settled, but on the issue of Life.
