Same-Sex Marriage and the Divided PartyNov 07, 2014
Exit polling from this week’s U.S. Senate race in Virginia verified that the issue of same-sex marriage is proving very divisive to one political party. In fact, more than one-third (37 percent) of the voters for this party’s candidate were opposed to that candidate’s position on same-sex marriage. It makes you wonder just how long it will be before those voters switch parties to the one that actually stands for their position; a switch that could affect elections for years to come.
Oh, and the party facing that 37 percent division: the Democrats.
It seems that the narrative that the Republican Party is the only one divided over this issue isn’t quite accurate.
