Unsafe Abortion Clinics Get to Stay Open, Profit Under McAuliffe

According to Erik Bodin, the Director of the Office of Licensure and Certification, there has been a decline in the number of infractions at Virginia abortion centers. This points to the fact that despite the abortion industry’s claim that they can “self-regulate” and stay safe, the Department of Health regulations have actually had an effect and they are actually working to curb the behavior of rogue abortion facilities.

While we are happy to see an overall decline in the number of infractions cited and a slight improvement of conditions, there is still much work to be done. The citation system still needs improvements and fine-tuning to accurately portray the conditions at the centers.

As I said to the media, the willingness of certain members of the Board of Health to turn a blind eye to the law is ultimately politically-motivated. With Governor McAuliffe receiving substantial campaign contributions from abortion providers, now, he is giving them a pass when it comes to the law.

The Board of Health will take an important vote on the abortion center regulations on the morning of September 17th. Mark your calendar now, but stay tuned for more information. It will be critical that life advocates are present in great number on this day so that our voice is heard and that the regulations remain strong and in place.
