What are the major goals of the Campaign?

Our vision for Virginia is a Commonwealth of strong families who are guided by faith and protected by a principled government. To achieve that vision, over the next 5 years, our legislative goals aim to:

Establish Virginia as the most pro-life state in the nation.
1. Reduce the number of abortions per 1000 live births by 20 percent
2. Eliminate embryonic stem cell research
3. Regulate the distribution of so-called “emergency contraceptives”

Protect the institution of traditional marriage.
1. Pass a state constitutional amendment protecting the definition of marriage
2. Reduce the number of non-traditional arrangements by 5 percent
3. Prevent the equalization of homosexuality in state policy
4. Oppose the expansion of pornography

Reinforce the rights of parents to make life-altering decisions in their children’s lives.
1. Establish a tax credit for families that choose education alternatives
2. Reinstate a parents right to know about their minor’s risk behaviors

Limit the undue burden placed on families by state government.
1. Reduce the overall tax burden on families by 5 percent
2. Eliminate programs that function beyond the appropriate jurisdiction of government
3. Ensure budget transparency so taxpayers are aware of government actions

Reestablish Virginia as the national model for religious liberty.
1. Prevent taxpayer dollars from funding entities that inaccurately portray our religious heritage
2. Ensure that Virginia’s education system accurately reflects our Judeo-Christian heritage
3. Protect all displays of faith in the public square of Virginia

How does The Family Foundation plan to achieve these goals?

We will lead in the public policy debate by:
1. Increasing Our Issue Advocacy and Presence in the General Assembly
2. Engaging in Judicial Process Through Our New Legal Resource Council to Defend Pro-Family Legislation
3. Establishing an Effective Grassroots Network in 8 Regions Across Virginia to Build Legislator Accountability
4. Becoming the Most Credible Source on Virginia Family Issues Through New Research and Education Arm

We will become the recognized voice for Virginia’s families by:
1. Creating a Strong Media Presence to Advance Pro-Family Values
2. Mobilizing Marketing Campaigns to Educate Virginians

We will operate an effective and efficient organization by:
1. Securing Solid Management to Drive the Pro-Family Movement in Virginia
2. Engaging an Active Board of Pro-Family Community, Business, Church and other Leaders
3. Using Technology to Achieve Greater Operating Efficiencies

We will achieve a strong financial position by:
1. Establishing a Solid Fundraising Program to Build Support for Our Work Across Virginia
2. Demonstrating Sound Financial Management as Good Stewards of Our Families’ Support

The Family Foundation has created a conservative 5-year budget, based on the goals and strategies of the Campaign, which totals $1,516,375. Major costs of the Campaign include: Hiring a Legislative Affairs Assistant to Oversee New Research Efforts and Expand Mobilization of Grassroots.; Surveying Virginia Voters to Identify Like-Minded Virginians; Establishing Grassroots Network by Creating 8 New Regional Forums and Maintaining Regional Forums for Grassroots Effectiveness.
