Dems Try to Hold Gov's Stadium Hostage + Trump & VP Kamala Harris on Abortion

Here’s a roundup of events over the last two weeks affecting the culture and Commonwealth of Virginia:

·         The United States reached over 1 million reported abortions in 2023, a number we have not seen in a decade. With many states passing laws to protect life, chemical abortion is being pushed as an “easier” form of abortion, and now makes up 60% of all abortions. As other states protect life, abortion numbers are rising in states, such as Virginia, which do not.

Recently, Presidential candidate Trump strengthened his position on life, indicating support for a 15-week federal ban. Trump’s positions on life have shifted back and forth, and despite the harsh blame he laid on prolife supporters for the losses Republicans suffered in the 2022 midterm elections, he now appears to be saying that a 15-week federal ban is a reasonable place where people agree.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris became the first ever sitting vice president in the United States to ceremonially visit an abortion clinic. This was all part of her and President Biden's “Restore Roe” tour.  With much ceremonial hype Kamala Harris visited a big Planned Parenthood in St. Paul, Minnesota where she spouted blatant hypocrisy on women’s health as she advocates for Planned Parenthood – the government funded nonprofit openly directing women to basically self-diagnose and self-administer the abortion pill at risk of serious injury or death.

For the last few years, we heard her justifying abortion as a way to avoid a painful miscarriage. She clearly does not seem to understand the difference between a miscarriage and an abortion. Pro-abortion supporters intentionally confuse the two, however, miscarriage is the unintentional death of an unborn baby. Abortion on the other hand is the intentional killing of an unborn child.

·         Last week we reported on the UVA blow up over their $20 million investment in DEI. Through the State Department of Education, Governor Youngkin is starting an audit of syllabi from George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University. Both universities are planning DEI related coursework. A Youngkin spokesman said that they were responding to parents and students that have concerns that these courses are, "A thinly veiled attempt to incorporate the Progressive Lefts groupthink on Virginia students."

The Governor was facing a budget battle over the $2 billion sports stadium he wants to bring to Virginia, which would pull two teams based in DC into Virginia. This was a key factor in several bills The Family Foundation is tracing, specifically those bills commercializing marijuana and neighborhood slot machines.

Senator Louise Lucas, one of the leaders of the radical left wing of the party, has decided to make a spectacle about blocking this proposal. Basically, she and other Democrats played hardball, trying to strongarm the Governor into signing bills like commercialized marijuana, demanding that if he wants the stadium deal to go through he has to sign their bills.

Youngkin seems to be digging in his heels, stating: “There's two visions for Virginia: my vision which is more jobs, more opportunity, more prosperity; make sure we reduce the cost of living, and we invest in those critical elements that support that. Their vision for Virginia, candidly, is: let's tax everybody as high as we possibly can. Let's put a pot shop on every corner and let's put a slot machine in every 7-Eleven.”
