Director of Community Engagement
Location: Richmond, Virginia (In-Person)
Want to help lead statewide efforts to equip Christians to have a voice on life, family and freedom issues--all the way from the local county to the state capitol? The Family Foundation of Virginia (familyfoundation.org) is seeking a Director of Community Engagement to join our team. Based out of Richmond, Va., this position reports to the Vice President of Grassroots and Communications Strategies and is responsible for implementing the VP’s strategic vision by leading and maintaining a grassroots activist network—mainly through our Speak Up! Virginia initiative, regional “Speak Up!” teams, and other issue-specific statewide campaigns designed to empower local citizens. This role is crucial to reaching the Family Foundation’s goal of equipping citizens throughout our Commonwealth to advocate for policies that reflect biblical principles and help families thrive. Overall, this role is a combination of relationship building, logistical management and communications/administration.

General Assembly Legislative Assistant
Location: Richmond, Virginia (In-Person)
The Family Foundation General Assembly Legislative Assistant is an integral member of our General Assembly Legislative Team. The General Assembly Legislative Assistant (Assistant) is responsible to the Vice President of Government Relations and should always be prepared to respond to opportunities to advocate Family Foundation positions on any given piece of legislation.
The General Assembly Legislative Assistant is responsible to observe committee hearings related to his or her assigned areas, speak to bills during committee meetings, obtain issue-related information from the floor debate on bills assigned to him or her, and educate legislators in a one-on-one setting. Assistants may be required to do the appropriate research and administrative preparation necessary for these activities and prepare drafts of email alerts or summaries. Additionally, legislative assistants should be prepared to report on the details of the debate or on the position of a legislator on a particular bill to the VP of Government Relations. This is a full-time (Monday - Friday) in-person contract lobbying position available from January through March.
Qualifications:
-Able to work full-time (Monday – Friday) from January through March
-Agreement with The Family Foundation’s statement of faith.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-The ability to work independently, to perform multiple tasks and to give attention to detail.
-A responsible person with a mature work ethic.
-College or graduate level education in public policy, political science, communications, or law
preferred.
Duties:
-Attend Committee Hearings
-Testify in committee
-Observe debate on the floor of the House or Senate on TFF bills
-Work with legislators on strategy
-Write Talking Points on specific bills
-Write Email Alerts
-Construct testimony for committee
-Draft letters or emails to legislators and grassroots
-Draft appointment reviews after all legislator meetings
