Action Alert: Recreational Marijuana in VA is a Very Bad Idea!

You’ve probably heard by now how the new Democrat majority, led by Governor Ralph Northam, is seriously contemplating decriminalizing (effectively the same thing as "legalizing") marijuana for recreational use in Virginia. (Medicinal use is already legal.) But legislators need to hear the message that there’s nothing good that will come of this – only a whole lot of pain, suffering, and brokenness. Two such bills are actually being heard and voted on in a Senate Committee tomorrow (Wednesday) – SB 2 (Ebbin-D) and SB 815 (Morrissey-D).

Contact Your Legislators to Let Them Know You OPPOSE Bringing Recreational Marijuana to Virginia!

We’ve seen the damage this drug does to individuals, families, and communities in places where they’ve legalized it – whether in Colorado, Washington, or Washington D.C., and it’s clear that it’s a truly destructive force.

When you look at the impacts on health, crime, public safety, homelessness, driving under the influence, mental illness, addiction, children, racial disparities, workforce productivity – you name it – this drug is nothing but bad news.

There were very good reasons why state governments everywhere first banned the recreational use of marijuana in the 1960s and 70s – which, by the way, was far less potent and dangerous than the stuff being produced now. Our legislators should learn from history and not repeat the same mistakes, or else we will soon find out the dire consequences, but not before creating countless victims and victimizers.
